EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is based on the body’s natural energy system that has been known and utilised for healing in the East for over five thousand years and to which we in the “enlightened” West, are just opening our minds .
Modern science knows it as the Electro-Magnetic system, which delivers the brain’s messages to all parts of the body (as seen in ECGs, EEGs etc.).
In China it is known as the Qi (chee) and on the Indian Sub-continent as Prahna. In both cultures the redressing, unblocking and clearing of this life-force, is the basis of their holistic approach to medicine.
Now, in the 21st Century, Gary Craig has devised a simple, gentle, non-intrusive therapy based on the most recent discoveries in the field of Energy Psychology. It has proved most effective even where all else has failed. His Foundation Statements say:
"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy“
And...
"Our unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most of our physical pains and diseases."
When he developed the therapy Gary is a Professor of Engineering at an American university and he looked at the body as a mechanism run by the brain – the driver. He realised the direct correlation between how emotions were occurring in the brain and physical symptoms appeared in the workings of the body.
He studied the far more complicated TFT – Thought Field Therapy – which worked on many more meridian points, in different orders and for different amounts of taps for different ailments. The developer of this technique is Roger J. Callahan who in turn based his techniques on Kinesiology.
Kinesiology works through testing muscle strength in response to a "question" that is presented to the body. This technique was originally developed by a chiropractor in the 1960's and has since been incorporated into the practice of many disciplines, including health, education and psychology.
EFT works by cleansing and realigning the flow of energy through the meridian energy system, so that any symptoms caused by the blockage dissolve and do not return. This is achieved by firm, but gentle tapping on specific meridian points on the face, torso and hand, whilst saying a reminder phrase to assist in fully associating with the issue at hand.
This synergy of mind and body effects rapid (sometimes instant) relief from even long held emotional issues and physical symptoms. Because the clearing of these obstacles to recovery there is normally no recurrence of the problem as the cause no longer exists.
In other words; heal the cause not the symptom caused by this disruption. The analogy that Gary uses is that of plunging a screw-driver into the back of a Telly. You get a flash, bang, fizz and then a really dodgy reception. The picture before the attack is the natural state of existence. The dodgy reception is the current state of affairs the wobbly picture and crackling sound are a couple of the noticeable symptoms.
Obviously the screw-driver is the event or trauma, but withdrawing it dose not fix things. So, what needs addressing is the Flash, Bang, and Fizz! This is where EFT comes in. By restoring the “flow” to where it was before the intrusion, perfect reception is restored. The event still occurred and the memory is still there but with the short circuit repaired everything returns to normal.
You can now be treated for any problem whether physical or psychological with this one amazing therapy and best of all, it’s easily learned and unless your issues are deeply repressed, or you just like help, you don’t need to visit the therapist!
